Warner Village cinemas

As my partner's oldest son had his birthday and because he is a big Star Wars fan, we visited the Warner Village cinema in Finchley.

Arriving at the cinema we discovered that it is an enormous shopping centre with a supermarket, bookshop, several restaurants and pubs. All of it was in a real American style, which means big, bigger, biggest. In my opinion it was all a bit over the top.

Walking up to the cinema itself, we had to walk through a corridor with big aquariums, containing the most beautiful tropical fishes. I could have wandered around this corridor for a while, just admiring all these aquariums.

Once inside the Warner cinema itself, I was astonished by the entrance. Above us were dozens of television screens showing cartoons from Warner Brothers. Somehow these television sets were hooked up with each other in a way that they can be addressed simultaneously as well as separately. This way they can, for example, display Sylvester chasing Tweety where they run from one screen to the next one. No need to tell you how much I liked just standing there and watch the possibilities they had with this system.

Of course the cinema had a counter where we could buy all kind of drinks and snacks. Here too everything was set up American style (big, bigger, biggest). We ordered a couple of medium popcorn not knowing that we would end up with two buckets full of it :+). Next to that we ordered a large cola, expecting it to be half a litre, but we got a litre instead. Better keep this in mind when you order there.

We walked into the cinema itself which was, with one word, enormous. When walking up to our chairs I was wondering where to put that 'medium' coke, but discovered that each seat had these really handy cup holders which were big enough for my cola ( I think I could have put my leg through it :+) ).

I can recommend the Warner Village cinemas to all those movie lovers out there. It is one of the best cinemas I have ever seen. The prices are a bit higher than other cinemas, I think what you get in return is certainly value for money. And the popcorn and drinks are relatively cheap compared to the amounts you get. :+)
