Rainforest Cafe

Rainforest Cafe is a combination of restaurant and shop. It is a franchise organisation with restaurants in major cities all around the world. When we arrived at the restaurant, there was a large queue waiting outside on the street, which was to be expected because the restaurant was quite new. We queued up to reserve our place. After quite a while we arrived at the reservation desk where we got a ticket and were told it would take about an hour and a half before it was our turn. I don't exactly know what the popularity of the restaurant is at the moment, but it might be an idea to phone them and ask what the average waiting time is at the moment.

As we had to wait that long we walked around the shop and admired the 'talking tree' and the crocodile animatronics (robots in the form of an animal), that were on display there. After walking around for a while we decided to visit the Trocadero center.

Shortly after we returned at the restaurant it was our turn to enter the restaurant. We walked downstairs into the restaurant where we were guided to our table. Inside the restaurant you will find several pavilions with all kind of animatronics (elephants, a gorilla etc.), surrounded by plants and trees you will find in the rainforest. The ceiling of the restaurant is covered with little lights which give the impression of a starry sky. You really get the feeling you are in the middle of the jungle.

Our table was close to the elephants and shortly after we sat down they started to move their trunks and make sounds. Later on, the gorilla and some other animals where performing their 'show'.

The dishes you will find on the menu are close to the McDonalds or Burger King menu's, lots of French fries, hamburgers etcetera. The prices are high, certainly for what you get. However, I think you should try the restaurant at least once because of the set-up of the restaurant itself.

Not to long ago I heard (I do not know if this is true however) the Rainforest Cafe in London might close soon. The reason would be the low popularity. Apparently people indeed visit the restaurant once, but hardly come back because of the high prices.
