Ghosts of the old cityIn this tour the guide will show you all kind of houses, churches and graveyards of London which, according to the tales, are haunted. The tour starts near St. Paul's Cathedral. Here you will be told about the ghost that walked through the wall of St Paul's Cathedral (later people discovered a secret door exactly at the same spot this ghost disappeared). Next to that you will hear stories about the She Wolf of France, some dark figure on Newgate wall who rattles his chains every now and then, the ghost nurse of Bartholomew's Hospital and many other events. During the walk your guide will also tell you more about the history of London, like the plagues, the great fire, the court system in ancient London, the death penalty and many other topics. This was my first walking tour and I can really recommend it. You will learn a lot about the history of London, see certain well known places from a different perspective and will be amused too. To join this tour, take the Central Line to St. Paul's, leave the station through St. Paul's Cathedral exit and wait there for your guide and other walkers. The walk starts at 7:30pm on Saturday, and takes about two hours. For more information go to The Original London Walks homepage. |
