Travelling by airplaneSeveral times I have travelled to London by airplane. Although it is normally the quickest way to get into London, I prefer travelling by Eurostar as for me it takes almost as long as travelling by airplane (but that is because my destination is to far from Schiphol Airport :+) ). London has five airports, of whom Heathrow is probably best known. It is also the only airport I have ever travelled to. Next to Heathrow, you have Gatwick, Stanstead, Luton and City airports. Travelling into London is very easy from each and every one of those airports. You can find links to the airports mentioned above from our UK tourism startpage. From Heathrow you can go by underground (Piccadilly line) and coach (Heathrow Express). Transit time (depending on the transport you use will be somewhere between 45 and 90 minutes.
Of course it is also possible to go into London by bus or taxi. Please keep in mind that the times mentioned above are only transit times. Add extra time on top of these for customs, picking up your luggage and leaving the airport. This may easily take up to 45 minutes, as some of these airports are enormous. Ask your travel agency for more specific details on the airports, means of transport and travel times to your hotel etcetera. They should be able to give you this information and you should even be able to book tickets for train connections from the airport. Have a nice flight. |
